About the neighbourhood
The villa is located less than 5 minutes walk from the lagoon and Sailing Club. A 5 minute drive to the sea and beaches of Foz do Arelho. As well as local facilities in Foz (small supermarkets, a butchers, bread shop, chemist, post office, internet cafe, cafes, bars, restaurants etc.), the villa is only a short 10 minute drive from the nearby spa market town of Caldas da Rainha (banks, quality shops, larger supermarkets, daily fruit/veg market, fish market, the famous Monday market [this is a must during your stay!]). Several top notch Golf courses are nearby, including Praia del Rey (30 minutes) and Quinta do Brincal [Golden Eagle] (15 minutes). Local sailing schools, wind and kite surfing is very popular in Foz and nearby Baleal. There are nearby beaches at Foz do Arelho (5 minute drive), Sao Martinho do Porto (10 minutes drive), Nazare (20 minutes drive); heading south are Peniche and Baleal (both about 15 minutes drive). There is a gokarting circuit near Bombarrel (approx 25 km).
GETTING AROUND
A rental car is the easiest method of getting around. There are local amenities available by foot (15 mins walk); but the spa town of Caldas da Rainha (10 min drive) has several hypermakets, a shopping centre, many restaurants etc. It is possible to travel around by bus, but a little local knowledge and pre-planning is required for this.
